Preface
A handbook on English Business Correspondence is prepared in continuation of two other books which were written by the author for anyone interested in English letter- writing. They were covering a variety of fields and occasions including general hints in each area.
The present book, however, has focused on business letters with explanations and examples to enhance writing letters in business arena.
The importance of communication is undeniable where it plays a very crucial role in business deals.
Introduction
Letters of different types and formats have always been considered as useful means to have relation with others, and successful correspondence will definitely lead to favorable results. Yet, skill in letter-writing tends to have more to do with environment in which we move than with anything else.
Most of us experience gaps between what we think, what we can speak about and what we are able to write. Being able to write good letters demand more than words, phrases, sentences and paragraphs, it needs knowing how to communicate clearly in different circumstances appropriately.
We live in a world that needs and seeks to solve problems; and correspondence is one of the ways which involves the writer, the subject, and the recipient. There are certain broad frameworks which are helpful and appropriate and within each one there are numerous possible combinations which a letter-writer may use.
However, the nature of letter writing in general, and business letter writing specifically, has changed today as to technology progress and development of internet and social media.
With rising competition among companies and business developers, it is crucial to be well informed about processing and comprehending information coming in through a variety of sources.
Today, everything happens in a matter of minutes! You compose your letter on your computer or other electronic devices and with pressing a bottom, the letter is received by the recipient letting you know if he/ she has got it or/ and read it!
